Culture cupboard soy milk yogurt

It’s the easiest starter ever!

This homemade soy milk yogurt is so simple. With Culture Cupboard plant-based starter the process is easy and failsafe. It's smooth, thick, and creamy, and unlike other plant-based yogurt recipes, this one sets like a charm. Homemade soy yogurt has an earthy taste with the perfect tang. Keep it plain or add sweeteners, or vanilla after chilling.

STARTER CULTURE

Culture Cupboard’s Plant Based Yogurt Starter contains four bacterial strains:

  • Streptococcus thermophilus
  • Lactobacillus acidophilus
  • Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. Bulgaricus
  • Bifidobacterium

All the strains are grown in a non-dairy medium so your homemade yogurt will be vegan. Culture Cupboard Plant Based Starter contains everything you need to ensure probiotic rich yogurt with great texture. It’s everything you love about yogurt, without the dairy!

THICKENER

During fermentation, store bought soy milk does not thicken like dairy yogurt. The Luvele test kitchen has experimented with many different thickening agents to achieve thick and creamy plant-based yogurt. On our recipe blog you’ll find a thickening option to suit every dietary need. We are excited to offer yet another option. Included in the Culture Cupboard Plant Based Starter packet is a ‘base’ thickening agent. The ‘base’ is made up of agar and organic rice starch and guarantees a consistent texture with no separation, every time.

SOYMILK

Use your favourite soy milk with the least amount of additive or even better a brand that contains just soybeans and water. For a high-quality yogurt, consider making your own soy milk from scratch. Our recipe makes 2 litres of creamy soy milk yogurt. For an even thicker yogurt reduce the amount of soy milk to 1.5 litres or experiment with the quantity to find your ideal texture.
